Disaster Tales is a podcast where we talk about disasters with input from emergency professionals and disaster survivors. On the fifteenth of each month Kate Fairweather will be joined by her Co-Hosts and Guests to discuss details and stories from a specific disaster. From Pompeii to the latest hurricanes, floods and tornadoes, Disaster Tales will bring you into the disaster with amazing facts, detailed histories and an insider's perspective.
Barb Lonsky is a retired respiratory therapist, a music therapist and trauma worker. She lives on an organic, sustainable energy farm in Upstate NY with her husband Steve.
John Horrell has been responding to disasters since the 1970 beginning with local responses and working up to national responses such as 9/11. He has served as government and congressional leaders liaison, disaster recovery center manager and volunteer agency coordinator. He is currently an active landscape designer and installer. In his free time he is a bread baker, a sea kayaker, a back packer and reader. John resides in Northern California.
Kate Fairweather is a disaster professional with a BS in Emergency Administration and Disaster Planning. Her career includes 20 years with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, 20 + years with American Red Cross and 12 years doing search and rescue with Civil Air Patrol. Kate lives with her family in Texas.
Kathie Campbell-Greer is a bookend Texan: born there, retired there. Known as the Word Merchant, she is a talented, award winning writer. Kathie holds a master's degree in counseling and worked with victims of domestic violence. She's researched and presented to the Texas Counseling Association on Grandparents as Custodial Caretakers.
